Welcome to our website. We are pleased to offer our website as a tool for enhancing our communications with you.
The Wilmar Volunteer Fire Department is comprised of over 40 dedicated and professional Volunteer Firefighters and support staff. In support and partnership with the County of Sonoma Fire and Emergency Service Department we stand ready to serve you.
Our personnel are trained and equipped to respond to all of your requests for assistance. We responded to over 300 calls for service in 2010 including structure fires, wild land fires, medical emergencies, and public assistance calls. Our firefighters are well trained and equipped to be ready to support you whenever you need us.
Our members are committed to serving our community. We provide life safety education in our schools, attend local community events, and host community events ourselves.
Our website provides you useful safety information including active community alerts and fire and life safety information. A link is available for you to show your support and appreciation by making a donation towards equipping and training our Volunteer Firefighters. Information about who we are and what we do for you is also available for your review. Should you wish to serve as a Volunteer Firefighter there is important information available as well.

Fire Explorer Program
Wilmar Fire began a Fire Explorer Program in the year 2000, which has been a huge success to this day. High School students interested in the fire service are given a “hands-on” approach to all the different duties and responsibilities of a Firefighter. Many of our Explorer’s go on to become Volunteer Firefighters for Wilmar, and some eventually end up with paid career jobs in the fire service!
